Dark Water

http://www.bbcamerica.com/doctor-who/guide/season-8/episode-11/

I really want them to save Danny Pink!
Clara had exactly the right clever plan to force the Doctor to comply...... too bad it failed but at least he listened to her. I was not expecting him to.

The afterlife is a huge deal, for me I anticipate lots of flowers in meadows with angels and departed loved ones. I never expected skeletons in dark water. That was grim. Why does the Doctor never notice dead skeletons watching him? Clara ignored them moving too, so shame on you both!

Ok, Clara was grieving, so I removed her shame.

Danny is less than clever in trying to convince Clara it is really him. Culture shock can be his only excuse. It isn't every day one goes to the afterlife.

"Missy", now there's a fun discovery......... but excactly HOW did the Master survive???? Tell me, somebody, really, how did the Master get from the final episode with David Tennant to this episode? Did anyone have a clue? I usually have at least one clue.

Gotta say, the Doctor must have been unhappy to find he was kissing the Master! What a hoot!

I can't wait to see the second half of this episode, and am so unhappy that the BBC doesn't make longer seasons. Can we make them make more???? Don't they have enough money????? REALLY!

In the Forest of the Night

catchy title.

Love the trees, I'm totally a tree hugger. I enjoyed the action with the children this time, because the Doctor did not drag them off world in some hair brained and dangerous adventure, but he came to Earth and got involved in a problem local to the children.

Mr. Pink was the image of a teacher, and did a good job on chasing off the tiger, although I am uncertain a flashlight [or torch] would really do the trick. The children were playing off of him well, not liking to be called "TEAM", and being just like regular kids.

The Doctor made a valid point about giving children a pill for everything, the world has gotten stupider in that regard.

Mave was brilliant. A very good little actress. [yes, I know it is pld fashioned to say 'actress instead of actor, but get a grip].

Basically, I enjoyed the story.

Flatline

I think it was good to give Clara so much to do in this episode, she proved to be competent and did not dismiss the young graffiti artist, even though he was in trouble with the law and being forced to paint over the graffiti.

the scene where the Doctor uses just his fingers to drag the TARDIS our of the path of the train had me laughing out loud. Yes, thank you thing.

the 2D people were really creepy, walking like the 'living dead' Zombies....... totally creepy. Good job CGI guys!

Now I want one of those 'hanging from a chain egglike chairs.

Mummy on the Orient Express

Good job!

Finally an episode with enough action, just enough creepy/spooky AND murder mystery!

There was also a bit of humor when the psychic paper back fires......... after all, it makes you see what you think you are going to see.

The Doctor was a hero without mentioning his own eyebrows = FINALLY.

Now we still do not know what reason Clara will have for leaving the show.... but I like surprises.

I will watch it again just to be sure, but I think there was little to be disappointed with this time.

Kill the Moon

If I had more hair I would be pulling it out!

What is going on with the writers? They can do good action and drama scenes, and I know they can build a good story, unless these are new guys,[ written by Peter Harness, and directed by Paul Wilmshurst] and it does seem like it.

Since when does the Doctor run off and leave his companions to just give it their best shot? He really destroyed Clara's trust, and certainly isn't earning it back. Was this the writer's idea for how to let Clara leave the show? Certainly she can leave just to remain with her boyfriend, he seems really great compared to the Doctor, who seems to have lost all sense of how to judge people's ages....... can't tell a 15 year old from a 30 something adult? He thinks Clara looks the same age as him when Dan remarks about ; "He's your Dad".

I have never been so discouraged about any Doctor Who series previous to this. Maybe they are trying to retire the show. That will really make me mad. All of the previous years have been better. And I am not blaming Peter Capaldi, he is a fine actor, it's the writers. Maybe they can be replaced.

Spoiler here; I do not buy the moon being an egg.Never. The writers sure laid one though. No pun, just the truth.

The Caretaker

alright, it seems clear to me, and probably to everyone by now, the new incarnation of the Doctor is mentally a bit thick. Not stupid, but clearly not the brightest bulb in the pack.

How long does it take to figure out who Clara is dating?

How long does it take for him to pay attention to the fact that Pink is NOT a P.E. teacher?

Does he really think that changing to a different color coat is a good disguise?

Is he ever going to get a clue?

Is he simply amusing himself by making us all think he is Thick McThickington from Thicksville?

Yeah, his eyebrows make him the boss. We get it.

The story is pretty good, but drive a stake through the heart of the punsters..... we want a brilliant Doctor, we have always had a Brilliant Doctor and a thick one is wearing thin.

pun intended.

LISTEN

Finally! An episode that is as timey-wimey as it needs to be, and as creepy as hell. I have been waiting, less than patiently, for this.

Good golly!

Robots in Sherwood?

O.K., I waited overnight to post anything about this second episode. It was more fun that the first, but I really wonder what is going on with the writers. It is a flimsy plot at best, it's like they have forgotten this is not just a children's program anymore.

The robots, seem like a one trick pony to me. ok, they open their heads and blast a beam of destructo ray at people. Boring. Really boring. They have no real purpose, except to be out of place, and they really are not much of a threat if they can be foiled by shiny surfaces.

The Doctor is a bit of a argument starter, he doesn't seem especially clever to me right now. Most drunken morons can start an argument. Step up old man, you do have over 2,000 years of wits about you! REALLY!!!

Clara looks lovely in the period garb, but we kind of expect a pretty girl to look good. She is getting to seem smarter than our main character, WRITERS>>>>>>>>> HELLO!!!

I enjoyed the bit about the arrows, until it got mundane. Stop at the best stopping time. Don't wait until we get bored of a stunt.

ok, nuff said.

disappointed!!!

it might not be actual agony, but the second episode of Doctor Who this season was certainly a disappointment. The idea of shrinking down to tiny to go inside of a sick Dalek and fix him is pretty flimsy........ but worse than that, the Doctor knew that was what he planned to do BEFORE he went to pick up Clara, so he purposely took her into danger for no really good reason.

2 of the soldiers that went with them were dissolved by antibodies......... so Clara could have been just as easily destroyed.

last but not least.... when the young female soldier asked to go with the Doctor in his TARDIS, she was turned down for being a soldier! What does he always turn his companions into??? The new Doctor, is he always going to be a hypocrite?

the writers need to bring it up a notch, this was derivative, and mentioning it reminds him of a movie is not a good enough excuse to go ahead with the plot.
